Alex & Sonny | Cincinnati Art Museum & Ault Park Engagement Session — Cincinnati, Ohio

Cincinnati Engagement Session

I had the best time with Alex and Sonny at their engagement session this time last year. We started at the Cincinnati Art Museum and capturing their love surrounded by beautiful art. The courtyard, pillars, and staircase at the museum make for the perfect backdrop as well. Alex wore a beautiful white dress and Sonny was in a suit that paired perfectly with the elegant museum.

We then headed over to the iconic Ault Park to take some photos with the spring blooms. It rained a little on our drive over but by the time we got there it had pretty much cleared up. Alex was in a beautiful flowy white and brown dress and Sonny wore tan slacks with a blue button down. We got to explore the park and capture beautiful photos. The sun even peaked out for a couple.

Alex and Sonny — thank you for an afternoon I genuinely didn’t want to end. I am so honored to be your photographer and can’t wait to celebrate you two next year at North 4th Corridor.

Why the Cincinnati Art Museum is Perfect for Engagement Sessions

Nestled in the heart of Eden Park, the Cincinnati Art Museum first opened its doors in 1886 and has been a cornerstone of Cincinnati’s cultural identity ever since. For couples drawn to architecture, culture, and spaces with depth and history, it is unmatched as an engagement session location — and because so much of what makes it special is indoors, it’s a perfect choice no matter the weather.

From the staircase to the sun-drenched Alice Bimel Courtyard to the intimate gallery rooms, every corner of this museum offers something unique for photography. We began outside in the courtyard, where natural light surrounds you and the architecture creates a frame that is both elegant and intimate. The open sky and seasonal plantings give it a quality that shifts beautifully throughout the day.

Moving through the gallery spaces was a different experience entirely. There is something about being surrounded by centuries of art — paintings, sculpture, light filtering across carefully preserved surfaces — that strips away any sense of performance. The portraits that came out of those rooms are some of my absolute favorites: layered, intimate, and deeply, quietly beautiful.

The combination of grand exterior, open courtyard, and rich interior gives a photographer enormous range within a single location. Every room feels different. Every corner has something to offer. For couples who want their engagement session to feel elevated, artistic, and entirely their own — the Cincinnati Art Museum is the answer.

Ault Park

Here’s a draft in the same voice as your Cincinnati Art Museum section:

Ault Park

Tucked into the eastern edge of Cincinnati, Ault Park is one of those places that feels like it exists outside of time. The park spans over 200 acres of rolling terrain, pavilion, and open meadows — but it’s the gardens that make it truly special for engagement sessions. Seasonal blooms and layered greenery that makes every frame feel effortless and alive.

What I love most about shooting here is how naturally couples settle into the space. There’s so much room — just open air, soft light, and nature doing most of the heavy lifting. It creates an ease that shows up in the images. Couples start wandering and that’s when the best moments happen.

The gardens shift beautifully with the seasons — golden and abundant in summer, soft and romantic in spring, warm and textured come fall. No matter when you come, Ault Park offers something that feels entirely of that moment, that season, that day.

Alex and Sonny’s session at Ault Park is one I’ll keep coming back to for a long time. There were so many laughs, so many quiet cozy moments tucked between the garden paths — the kind of moments you can’t replicate. It’s exactly what an engagement session should feel like, and Ault Park gave us the perfect backdrop to let all of it unfold.

For couples who want their engagement session to feel natural, unhurried, and rooted in something beautiful — Ault Park is exactly that.

Enjoy viewing some of my favorites of Alex and Sonny!
