The light was doing something extraordinary when Audrey and Donnie met me at Alms Park — that particular golden quality that happens in the hour before sunset, when everything turns warm and a little dreamy and the city below seems to hold its breath.
Frederick H. Alms Memorial Park sits atop Mt. Tusculum in Cincinnati’s Mt. Lookout neighborhood, and its views are among the most beautiful in the entire city. From its heights, you can see the juncture of the Little Miami River and the great bend of the Ohio, the hills rolling into Kentucky on the other side, and the Cincinnati skyline glowing in the distance. It is a view that never gets old — and one that photographs differently every single time.
The Park
There is something quietly romantic about Alms Park that sets it apart from other Cincinnati locations. The stone pavilion with its beautiful archways and columns has a fairytale quality — castle-like and timeless, without feeling heavy or formal. The covered pergola overlooks the river and the surrounding valley, and the open grounds offer sweeping views in every direction.

Audrey has the kind of natural ease in front of a camera that makes it feel less like a photoshoot and more like a stroll with someone you’ve known for years. We spent the golden hour moving through the pavilion, out along the overlook, and into the surrounding green spaces as the sky changed colors behind us. We visited the spot where Donnie proposed to Audrey for a full circle moment. The last light of the evening fell across both of them in a way that felt almost unfair — too beautiful to be accidental.
Audrey kicked things off in the most perfect polka dot dress, which paired so well with Donnie’s sport coat, slacks, and loafers — such a classic, put-together look for the two of them. Then for their second outfit, Audrey slipped into a beautiful butter yellow dress with the cutest ribbon heels, while Donnie kept it easy and effortless in a cream sweater and white slacks — just right for soaking in that sunset glow together.
