Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Columbus, Ohio is one of them.
From the moment you step inside the historic John F. Wolfe Palm House — with its glass ceilings, beautiful tropical gardens, and quiet, green warmth — you feel transported. All that remains is light filtering through glass, the soft weight of botanical beauty, and the two of you.

The Conservatory
The Palm House is breathtaking in every season. Towering palms, cascading ferns, orchids in bloom, and a Venetian-style fountain anchored in the center — it’s the kind of space that photographs itself. A double grand staircase sweeps through the heart of the room, and the soft, diffused light that pours through the glass ceiling is a photographer’s dream.
Maria and Justin moved through the space like they’d been there a hundred times — comfortable, unhurried, completely at ease with each other. We wandered the biomes, found quiet corners between the greenery, and let the warmth of the Conservatory wrap around everything.
The Gardens
Outside, the Community Gardens offered a completely different energy — open, golden, and full of color. Flowers in full bloom, pathways that wind through beautifully maintained beds, and that particular quality of outdoor afternoon light that makes everything feel soft and alive.
These portraits have a joy to them. Maria’s laugh. Justin reached for her hand. The two of them walked through the gardens looking like they belonged there — which, honestly, they did.

From the very start, Maria came to me with a clear vision for their engagement session. She wanted something that felt intimate — editorial but not stiff, beautiful but not overdone. She wanted it to feel like them. That kind of intentionality from a couple before we even pick up a camera is honestly one of my favorite things, because it means we’re already on the same page before we ever step foot on location.
Adding a classic car to the session was an idea that just made sense the moment it came up. There’s something about the lines of a vintage car, the worn leather, the way the light wraps around old chrome — it adds a layer of texture and nostalgia that you simply can’t manufacture. It brought a timeless quality to the whole session that felt completely true to what these two were envisioning. And honestly? It couldn’t have come together more perfectly.
But the real magic wasn’t the location or the car or the golden light — it was them. Maria and Justin, you two have this ease around each other that translates so beautifully in front of a camera. Watching you laugh, lean into each other, exist in that space together — it was a joy to witness and an even bigger joy to capture. These are the sessions I think about long after the gallery is delivered.
