How we found out we were expecting

Drew and I are so excited to announce that we are expecting…TWINS! I found out I was pregnant August 19th, 2022. I took a test while Drew was in the other bathroom before we both headed to work. I didn’t tell Drew right away. I picked up another pregnancy test after work and came home to take it. It was positive too!

We were 1 week and 3 days away from our 2nd year anniversary. I placed the two pregnancy tests in a box. I went out to Drew and said “I don’t want to wait to open our anniversary gifts. I am too excited” (we are notorious for opening gifts early 😉 ). I told him my gift was funny and that I had to record his reaction! So then I set up my phone and recorded him opening the box and seeing we were pregnant!

How we found out we were expecting TWINS

I had then started having extremely bad morning sickness…which let’s be honest was more like ALL DAY sickness. I had a hard time eating, keeping fluids down, and so much more. About a month after finding out we were pregnant I started vomiting a ton, with back and rib pain on the right side. After not being able to even keep sips of fluids down, we decided to go to the hospital to make sure everything was okay with the baby.

We arrived at the hospital and got checked in. The doctors took my vitals and got me all hooked up to the machines. The doctors were thinking I might have kidney stones since I had had them in the past before. They wanted to do an ultrasound to look at the kidneys first to see if the could see anything and to make sure the baby was okay. At this point, I was 10ish weeks. The pain continued and only felt like it kept getting worse and worse.

After waiting what felt like a century, the ultrasound tech came and got me. Unfortunately they made Drew stay in the room while I went back for the ultrasound. As the ultrasound tech was doing the ultrasound she kept moving it back and forth on my stomach. The whole time I was thinking there is something wrong, there is something very wrong. Next thing you know I am finding out we were expecting TWINS. I was already crying at this point from all the pain I was in and when I found out it was twins I cried even more but with a smile. I was in complete shock.

I got back to the room and pulled out my phone to record Drew’s reaction as I told him we are expecting twins. His response… “are you sh**ting me?” with the biggest grin. I said, “no I am not!”. Needless to say we were so completely shocked and this was the biggest but best surprise ever! We can’t wait to meet our twinnies!!
